"Tech"nically Creative

Hey everyone~

I was told that if you want to write a blog... and you want people to listen... you should write every single day.

Well, the basis of this blog is creativity and I am not currently working on any projects.  Therefore, my creativity must come from a more creative outlet (hmm, I wonder how many times I use some spin of the word creative throughout my blog).  My point being is that today I was very much creative but in a more unconventional way.

My story begins last weekend.  I was in a state of total relaxation.  My aunt and I were talking about life as we floated along in the lake.  I told my aunt I was hoping to start a personal blog.  My aunt is a writer and was fully supportive of this.  Actually my aunt is a writer/therapist/mother.  Actually, she's a lot of things.  The conversation went something like "ah ha!  Blog, Blog, Blog?" "Yep, Blog, Blog!"  You get the idea.  During our 5 minute conversation we discovered that I felt like I had nothing to say but I'm very blog savvy whereas she is just the opposite.

Long story short or should I say long story long?.. we decided that I would be the perfect person to help her beef up her blog.  Today, that is just what we did.  I showed my aunt the ins and outs of Blogger and all the wonderful shortcuts that make Blogger so user-friendly.  Her blog went from looking boring to Blog-tacular.  In other words it looks awesome and I helped the blog to achieve this awesomeness.  Sometimes that's what being creative is all about, creatively helping others discover.

Unlocking Creativity

Hey friends and family
Lately I've been striving to be more creative... more creative in my work and play.  Whether I'm searching for new and innovative tools for use in my classroom or searching for new and innovative ways to revamp the most un-revampable (that's a word right?) furniture at home. Being that this is my first post on my first ever personal blog, I'll get straight to the goods.  I want to share my finds and creations with the world, not just my daughter and fiance.

For starters, I want to share a few of the things I've been working on.  I apologize for the horrible looking pictures, they were both taken with my phone.  The first picture is of a fabulous end table that was once-upon-a-time not so fabulous.  I began by painting the entire table red, then dry painting (with barely any paint) blue.  Both colors were purchased as oops paints.  I buy these all the time and I love feeling inspired by the various colors.  After I painted my fabulous table, I decided it still wasn't finished, so I took my creativity one step further and painted red diamonds with a stencil over the entire top of the table.  What do you think?  It's one of my first attempts at being more creative.
I also bought the most hideous coffee table ever at a yard sale.  I'm sorry if the coffee table is identical to one you own.  When I say hideous, I mean it matches nothing in my home.  I decided to paint the coffee table a fun turquoise color.  I painted the entire table a mocha brown than I dry painted the table LeFounda Blue (seriously).  I used sand paper to distress the table and a dark polyurethane to add age.  I finished this table by priming and glass insert and painting it with chalkboard paint.  Pretty cool, huh.  By the way, I did this while caring for my poor sick child.  In the picture, you can clearly see her in the background looking less than well.  Don't worry, I took tons of time tending to her needs.
As I build my blog I promise to add more entries about my creative chaotic teaching, parenting and before and after pictures of furniture, instead of just after pictures.

But for now...
